This November, Colombo transforms into a living stage as Sri Lanka Design Festival (SLDF) returns — a celebration of design, fashion, art, and culture that brings the city to life.
What’s Your Colombo? sets the tone for this year’s festival — a citywide creative movement that invites everyone to rediscover Colombo through stories, design, and shared experiences. From the Experience Colombo Passport and Design Trails to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Sri Lanka, the city will pulse with creativity and connection.
SLDF is where creativity, culture, and business meet. It’s Sri Lanka’s biggest celebration of design — connecting the island’s designers, makers, and innovators with the world.
Launched by the Academy of Design (AOD) in 2009, SLDF was born to position Sri Lanka as South Asia’s next creative hub. Over the years, it has grown into the country’s most influential platform for showcasing design, fashion, and innovation as powerful forces driving both culture and the economy.
Every year, the festival brings together artists, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders from across the region — sparking conversations, collaborations, and new ideas for the future. From exhibitions and runway shows to workshops, talks, and performances, it’s a week where creativity takes centre stage.

The Sri Lanka Design Festival (SLDF) was conceptualised by the Academy of Design (AOD) in 2009 to fulfill the need for a platform with global reach to support and strengthen the growing design initiatives and activity in Sri Lanka.
Over the past decade, AOD has established itself as the most trusted partner for design led industries in Sri Lanka and abroad. AOD believes in the power of design to create greater impact, and conceptualized the Sri Lanka Design Festival to be a global platform that connects industries, creatives, emerging designers and the public to inspire and learn from each other the impact design can have.
